Know your Body type and how to dress for it

We have all had moments where we are either passing by the streets of instagram and bam we find that dress that catches our attention , sigh we somehow have imagined how it will look on us shoes and bag’s to go with  and possibly hairstyle , we place an order , receive it and Bam the outfit doesn’t look as good as imagined to avoid future heartbreaks like this we advise you know your body type and that which suits it , so we avoid what I ordered vs what I received (Lol)

Here are different body types and the types of outfits that go well with them

1. THE APPLE BODY SHAPE

People with the apple body shape tend to have their upper bodies heavier than their lower bodies. They usually have a broad shoulder, bigger bust, and slim limbs

What to wear

  • Wear clothes with A-line or empire cuts
  • Wear printed dresses or dresses with patterns
  • Full or ¾ sleeves and flowy tops
  • Flared bottom trousers or palazzos
  • Wear fitted bras to pack up your bustline

What not to wear 

  • Avoid body con dresses
  • Avoid tops with skinny jeans

2. THE HOURGLASS BODY SHAPE

People with an hourglass body have their upper and lower bodies in proportion. They are characterized by a well-defined waistline, bigger hips, and thighs.

What to wear

  • V or plunge v neckline cuts
  • A line dress or dresses with similar cuts
  • Wear clothes that are fitted and clinched to the waist
  • A belt at the waistline or below the belly button

What not to wear

  • Avoid pairing with loose tops or bottoms

3. THE PEAR BODY SHAPE

People with a pear body have their lower body bigger than the upper body. They have a narrow shoulder and a wider hip.

What to wear

  • A-line dresses or skirts
  • V or deep-V neckline cuts
  • Wide-legged pants
  • A patterned top
  • Skinny jeans with loose tops

What not to wear

  • Skin fitted tops and loose bottoms

4. THE RECTANGULAR BODY TYPE

People with the rectangular body are usually well balanced from shoulders to hips. Focus on wearing clothes that show the arms and legs

What to wear

  • A-line skirts
  • Layered or ruffled tops
  • Sleeveless or strapless outfits
  • Blazers, long jacket and capes

What not to wear

  • Avoid dresses that envelope the body

5. THE INVERTED TRIANGLE BODY TYPE

People with an inverted triangle body usually have their shoulders very much broader than their hips. It is an athletic looking body. Choose clothes that will add to your hips.

What to wear

  • Pencil cut skirts, skinny jeans etc
  • V-neck line cut

What not to wear.

  • Wear patterned and layered tops for the lower body only and reduce that of the upper body

If a dress does not fit like its supposed to does not mean that you are out of shape. Knowing your body shape will help reduce some shopping stress and also help you cut the cost.
